OPC history and heritage
OPC was established in 1988 by Piers Johnson as a well test consultancy business.
Since 1988, OPC has been involved with more than 6,000 projects in nearly 50 countries in a wide range of subsurface and petroleum engineering disciplines.

OPC established
Oilfield Production Consultants (OPC) Ltd was launched from the spare room of his house by Piers Johnson, who had worked as as engineer within the oil industry for Foster Wheeler and Flopetrol Schlumberger.
First contract won with Phillips Petroleum in Woking to undertake well testing operations
First dedicated office in London
The first dedicated OPC office was in Kilburn opposite the Falcon pub (which of course served as a convenient “meeting room”).
Competent Persons Report
OPC completed its first Competent Person’s Report for Aminex PLC on their listing on the London Stock Exchange. OPC is now recognised as a ‘Competent Person’ by the London Stock Exchange and the New York Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for hydrocarbon asset evaluation
Aberdeen office opened
OPC opened an office in Aberdeen with Mike Eastgate as our Aberdeen Representative and consultant.
Chair of SPE London
Piers Johnson was appointed Chair of the London section of the SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) and hosted several successful events (pictured with Red Adair).
OPC has been a proactive supporter of the SPE throughout our history, sponsoring events and students.
Houston office open for business
First USA office opened in Houston with Bill Roberts, specialist in pressure transient analysis appointed as OPC USA President.
OPC has maintained an office presence in Houston ever since.
Doha office to support QP contract
Office opened in Doha, Qatar to support a large contract for the provision of technical consultants to QP which ran successfully for more than 8 years.
Kazakhstan offices opened
Office opened in Atyrau, Kazakhstan which was then successful in tendering for the contract to supply consultants to oversee the commissioning and operation of the Caspian Explorer, a submersible drilling barge rig
Expansion of office network
Significant expansion of the OPC network with new offices opened in Astana (Kazakhstan), Basra (Iraq) and Stavanger (Norway) to provide a more dedicated local service in country to customers
Expansion in MENA
Offices opened in Dubai UAE with full time OPC staff providing local services to customers.
