OPC performed an assessment of national future hydrogen supply and demand, outlining research to drive policy recommendations.
The project identified technological innovation across the hydrogen supply chain and tested the application of technologies on future policy pathways as part of the national consultation. OPC’s in house energy transition team modelled future hydrogen supply and demand scenarios until 2050. This enabled the client to identify per-sector demand and recognise policy pathways best suited to invigorate supply side policy incentives to align with national decarbonisation targets. The project’s core focus was to identify how hydrogen could be integrated with existing infrastructure to meet decarbonisation goals. Much of the work was built on modelling potential renewable electricity generation, largely offshore wind, to create green hydrogen.
